About Dr. Hooshmand
Shrin Hooshmand, Ph.D, RD, Professor, professor of nutrition, received her doctoral degree from the Department of Nutrition, Food and Exercise Sciences at Florida State University followed by her post-doctoral training at the same institution. Her primary research interests include investing nutritional factors that impact the aging process and developing interventions to improve physiological changes associated with aging. Dr. Hooshman is a professor of nutrition at San Diego State University and a Registered Dietitian. She has published 65 original articles in peer reviewed journals and presented more than 100 abstracts at national and international symposia. She served for 10 years as a Medical and Scientific Advisory Board member of the American Bone Health before the recent merger of ABH with the Bone Health and Osteoporosis Foundation. Dr. Hooshmand is recognized for her academic achievements, and she has been honored with the Graduate Women in Science Fellowship, Florida State University Alumni award, San Diego State University Outstanding Faculty Award, Graduate Professor of the Year, and Senate Distinguished Teaching Award.

Joint Accreditation Statement
In support of improving patient care, University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
AMA Credit Designation Statement
The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences designates this live activity for a maximum of 1.0 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
ACPE Credit Designation Statement
These knowledge-based activities will provide pharmacists up to 1.0 contact hours or 0.1 CEU. CE credit information, based on verification of live attendance and completion of the program evaluation, will be provided to NABP within 60 days after the activity completion.
ANCC Credit Designation Statement
The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences designates this live activity for a maximum of 1.0 ANCC contact hours. Nursing contact hours will be awarded for successful completion of program components based upon documented attendance and completion of evaluation materials.
AAPA Credit Designation Statement
The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences has been authorized by the American Academy of PAs (AAPA) to award AAPA Category 1 CME credit for activities planned in accordance with AAPA CME Criteria. This activity is designated for 1.0 AAPA Category 1 CME credits. PAs should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation.
CDR Credit Designation Statement
This activity is designated for 1.0 CDR CPEUs. Completion of this RD/DTR profession specific or IPCE activity awards CPEUs (One IPCE credit = one CPEU). If the activity is dietetics- related but not targeted to RDs or DTRs, CPEUs may be claimed which are commensurate with participation in contact hours. RDs and DTRs are to select activity type 102 in their Activity Log. Sphere and Competency selection is at the learner’s discretion.
Athletic Trainers
University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (BOC AP#: 0000298) is approved by the Board of Certification, Inc. to provide continuing education to Athletic Trainers (ATs). This program is eligible for a maximum of 1.0 Category A hours/CEUs. ATs should claim only those hours actually spent in the educational program.
