Applications are invited for a full-time, 12-month, tenure-track, assistant professor faculty position in speech-language pathology. The Department of Audiology and Speech Pathology is a consortium between the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR) and the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS). Priority given to persons with expertise in adult medical speech-language pathology, e.g., dysphagia, motor speech disorders, cognitive communication disorders, voice, fluency, and AAC.  Salary will be dependent upon qualifications.


Teaching undergraduate, M.S. and/or Ph.D. courses; developing and conducting programmatic research; seeking grant funding; mentoring student research; and providing university, community, professional service, and assisting with clinical education.

Minimum qualifications

Ph.D. in Speech-language Pathology or closely related field (individuals within one year of completion of their doctoral degree requirements may be considered). Individuals with CCC-SLP and university teaching experiences are desired. It is essential that this individual possess strong research and grant writing skills, as well as strong interpersonal and organizational abilities.


The Department of Audiology and Speech Pathology offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders (UALR), and two CAA-accredited graduate degree programs (UAMS)—a Master of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders (speech-language pathology) and a Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.). In addition, a Ph.D. degree program in Communication Sciences and Disorders is offered through an expanded consortium between UALR, UAMS, and the University of Central Arkansas (UCA), which is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. UAMS is the state’s largest basic and applied research institution, providing outstanding clinical services through the main campus as well as eight regional centers. UAMS includes seven institutes of excellence (i.e., Aging, Cancer, Eye, Myeloma, Spine & Neurosciences, Psychiatric Research, and Translational Research) and houses the Brain Imaging Research Center (BIRC) and the Voice and Swallowing Center. UAMS is a certified Advanced Primary Stroke Center and is affiliated with the Central Arkansas Veterans Administration Hospital and Arkansas Children’s Hospital (both also located in Little Rock).

Little Rock

Little Rock is a progressive city which offers an excellent quality of life. In fall of 2013, Kiplinger’s rated Little Rock the #1 mid-sized city in the U.S. The capital city and North Little Rock  include art, music, and theatre venues, a symphony orchestra, outstanding restaurants, and museums.  The William J. Clinton Presidential Center is also located in Little Rock near the beautiful Arkansas River. Central Arkansas is nationally known for hiking, fishing, camping and boating opportunities.  See
