Carolyn and Howard Quittner, M.D. and Kelly R. Stewart, M.D. Endowed Scholarship

Eligible: Continuing Medical Laboratory Sciences (MLS) Students

Background and Purpose

This scholarship was established in 2015 by Dr. Howard K. Quittner in loving memory of his son, Kelly R. Stewart, M.D. and in honor of his wife, Carolyn Quittner, a graduate of the college’s Medical Laboratory Sciences program.  The purpose of this gift is to support students of Laboratory Sciences in the College of Health Professions.

Award Amount and Timing

Subject to the availability of funds, the total annual award is $1,000 to the selected student.  Scholarship award is as follows: $500 per semester, fall and spring semester enrollments.

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Applicants must be admitted as a full-time student in the Medical Laboratory Sciences program in the College of Health Professions.
  2. Applicants must have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.25 at the time of admission.
  3. Documented Financial Need – All students applying for scholarships must apply for financial aid.  Students are not required to accept awarded loans, but in order to generate the aid report required that officially documents financial need, a completed FAFSA is required.  Please see the Student Financial Services website for more information.
