John Shock, M.D. Endowed Scholarship
Eligible: Continuing Ophthalmic Medical Technology Students Only
Background and Purpose
This scholarship was endowed in 2011 in honor of Dr. John Shock, founding director of the UAMS Jones Eye Institute and the inaugural recipient was selected in 2012. The scholarship recipient is an exemplary upper-level student in the ophthalmic medical technologies program who demonstrates high academic achievement, financial need, and demonstrated professionalism/leadership qualities to support this career field.
Award Amount and Timing
Subject to the availability of funds, the total annual award is $1,800 for up to two selected students. Scholarship award is as follows: $900 per semester per student, fall and spring semester enrollment.
- Applicant must be enrolled full-time in the Ophthalmic Medical Technology Program in the UAMS College of Health Professions
- Documented Financial Need – All students applying for scholarships must apply for financial aid. Students are not required to accept awarded loans, but in order to generate the aid report required that officially documents financial need, a completed FAFSA is required. Please see the Student Financial Services website for more information.
- A minimum of one reference and maximum of three references must be submitted. Please do not use relatives for references.
