Kathleen M. Mugan Endowed Scholarship
Eligible: Continuing Medical Laboratory Sciences Students Only
Background and Purpose
This scholarship was established in 2007 in honor of Mrs. Kathleen M. Mugan, former director of the medical laboratory sciences program, at her retirement. Mrs. Mugan was greatly respected and admired by her students and colleagues alike. The scholarship was established at her retirement by her students and colleagues, with generous support from Mrs. Mugan’s husband, Mr. Douglas Murray.
Award Amount and Timing
Subject to the availability of funds the total annual award is $1,000 to the selected student. Scholarship award is as follows: $500 per semester, fall and spring semester enrollment.
- The applicant must be an officially enrolled student (full-time or part-time) who has completed at least one semester in the Medical Laboratory Sciences (MLS) Program in the Department of Laboratory Sciences.
- A minimum of a 2.5 grade point average (GPA) in the Medical Laboratory Sciences Program is required.
- Documented Financial Need. All students applying for scholarships must also apply for financial aid if they have not done so already. Students are not required to accept the awarded loans, but a completed FAFSA is required to generate the aid report that officially documents the financial need of applicants. - Three references are required – two from clinical preceptor members at your rotation site and one personal reference who is not associated with the MLS program and is not related to the applicant.
