Kenneth C. Pederson Memorial Scholarship

Eligible: Continuing Radiologic Imaging Sciences Students Only

Background and Purpose

Kenneth C. Pederson was a faculty member in the radiologic technology program when an unfortunate accident took his life in 1971. This scholarship was established shortly after Mr. Pederson’s untimely death in memory of his dedication, compassion, and excellence to his profession and his students. The scholarship is awarded annually to a student who demonstrates high personal and academic achievement, as well as financial need.

Award Amount and Timing

Subject to the availability of funds, the total annual award is $1,250 to the selected student(s). Scholarship award is as follows: $625 per semester, fall and spring semester enrollment per student.

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Applicant must be a second or third-year Medical Radiography student currently enrolled full-time in the Division of Radiologic Imaging Sciences.
  2. A minimum professional grade point average (pGPA) of 3.0 as calculated for all professional and concurrent courses completed since the time of admission to the department.
  3. Documented Financial Need – All students applying for scholarships must apply for financial aid.  Students are not required to accept awarded loans, but in order to generate the aid report required that officially documents financial need, a completed FAFSA is required.  Please see the Student Financial Services website for more information.

References

  1. Two references are required, of which at least one must be from a faculty member in the Division of Radiologic Imaging Sciences, excluding the Division Director and the Department Chairman. Relatives cannot not be used as references.
