Wanda L. Culbreth Scholarship

Eligible: New Cytotechnology Students

Background and Purpose

The Wanda L. Culbreth Scholarship was established in 2006 by Mrs. Culbreth’s husband, Reverend Cecil Culbreth, as well as Mrs. Culbreth’s colleagues in the Department of Laboratory Sciences in the College of Health Professions and in the Department of Pathology of the UAMS College of Medicine. She was a dedicated cytotechnologist and cytotechnology program director at UAMS. It will be awarded annually to an outstanding cytotechnology student who demonstrates academic achievement, professionalism, and strong leadership abilities.

Award Amount and Timing

Subject to the availability of funds, the total annual award is $1,000 to the selected student.  Scholarship award is as follows: $500 per semester, fall and spring enrollment.

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Applicant must be enrolled in the Cytotechnology Program in the UAMS College of Health Professions.
  2. Applicant must have a minimum cumulative grade point average (cGPA) of 3.0
  3. Documented Financial Need – All students applying for scholarships must apply for financial aid.  Students are not required to accept awarded loans, but in order to generate the aid report required that officially documents financial need, a completed FAFSA is required.  Please see the Student Financial Services website for more information.

  1. Two references are required, with at least one being from a health care professional. Relatives cannot not be used as references.
