May 29, 2015 | A day short of commencement, graduates of the programs in the College of Health Professions gathered with faculty, staff, friends and family for an informal celebration brunch.

The May 15 event took advantage of the open areas and courtyards of the college’s facilities with tables to accommodate the graduates and those who taught, supported and encouraged them along the way. The brunch also was a departure from the college’s previous pre-graduation gatherings, which were off campus with space considerations that kept attendance limited to graduates, department chairs and college leaders.

“Our campus home, with all the open areas, allows us to do something nice and fun like this as a way to honor our graduates prior to the commencement ceremony,” said Douglas Murphy, Ph.D., College of Health Professions dean. “It also allows us to host not just the graduates but their families, friends and our college faculty, staff and colleagues in areas such as Financial Aid, Diversity Affairs and the Registrar — who all had a role in our graduates’ education and success.”

In addition to brunch, the event included live musical entertainment.
