The Arkansas Community Paramedic Initiative is a coordinated effort by the EMS community to bridge healthcare gaps in Arkansas. Community Paramedic programs are intended for those who either receive no healthcare assistance or need to supplement their existing services. In addition, the primary mission of the Community Paramedic is to act as a healthcare system navigator linking patients to their most efficient route to better health. The major goals of this movement include the formation of:

  • Community Paramedic standards for initial and continuing education.
  • Licensure standards for Community Paramedics
  • Licensure standards for Community Paramedic services
  • Quality measures for identifying program success
  • Cost versus payment structures

This initiative is supported by:

  • EMS providers
  • Arkansas Department of Health, Section of EMS
  • EMS educators

The community of interest includes:

  • Policy makers
  • Patients who need better healthcare
  • Hospitals who want to reach out to their patients
  • Concerned Citizens
