Department of Audiology and Speech Pathology – Full-Time Faculty – Audiology Clinic Director

Overview

The Department of Audiology and Speech Pathology in the College of Health Professions at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) seeks applicants for a full-time, 12-month Audiology Clinic Director faculty position, located in Little Rock, Arkansas. We are searching for a team-oriented faculty member. Academic rank and salary are commensurate with experience and qualifications.

The Programs

The Doctor of Audiology program is 11-semesters in length and is accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. The Ph.D. program in Communication Sciences and Disorders is an expanded consortium with the University of Central Arkansas and the University of Arkansas-Little Rock and is reviewed by the Arkansas Department of Higher Education. UAMS is Arkansas’ only academic health center with seven institutes including the Reynolds Institute on Aging, Stephens Spine Institute, Jones Eye Institute, Myeloma Institute for Research & Therapy, Psychiatric Research Institute, Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute, and Translational Research Institute. The university has five colleges including Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Public Health and Health Professions (CHP) as well as a Graduate School of biomedical sciences. The College of Health Professions which houses the Department of Audiology and Speech Pathology and 14 other programs with the potential for innovative inter-professional opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • The faculty member will report to the program director of the audiology program in the Department of Audiology and Speech Pathology and will have primary responsibility of performing clinic-related administrative duties;
  • Coordinating practicum and externship placements;
  • Providing supervision for students;
  • Teaching relevant audiology courses;
  • Managing interprofessional education milestones for students;
  • Participating in university, community, and professional service.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  1. Minimum of Au.D., or related audiology doctoral degree with a clinical focus
  2. Eligibility for CCC-A
  3. Eligibility for licensure in the state of Arkansas
  4. Strong commitment to fulfill mission of the department, college, and university
  5. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  6. Ability to communicate productively with students, colleagues, staff, and community professionals

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Clinical experience with comprehensive diagnostics and amplification (Desired specialties may include auditory processing disorders, vestibular assessment, and/or tinnitus/hyperacusis)
  2. Five years of clinical experience beyond the doctoral degree
  3. Experience with clinical practice and business management
  4. Knowledge of reimbursement and coding procedures
  5. University or college teaching and student supervision experience
