Becky and Tom Butler Genetic Counseling Endowment Scholarship
Eligible: Currently Enrolled Genetic Counseling Students Only
Background and Purpose
The Becky and Tom Butler Genetic Counseling Endowment Scholarship was established in 2023 to benefit Genetic Counseling students in the UAMS College of Health Professions based on academic merit and leadership potential within the genetic counseling profession. The Butlers were instrumental in the creation of the UAMS Genetic Counseling Graduate Program and their endowment supports the professional development, education and research of UAMS genetic counseling students.
Award Amount and Timing
Subject to the availability of funds, the total award is $2,000 to the selected student. Scholarship award is as follows: $1000 per semester for fall and spring semester enrollment.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicant must be a full-time student pursuing a degree in the Genetic Counseling program in the Collegeof Health Professions.
- Applicant must have successfully completed the first year of the Genetic Counseling program in theCollege of Health Professions with a minimum cumulative grade point average (cGPA) of 3.50 for allcourses completed since the time of admission into CHP.
- Applicant must demonstrate outstanding performance in the program either through scholarship, service,or leadership.
- Documented Financial Need – All students applying for scholarships must apply for financial aid. Students are not required to accept awarded loans, but in order to generate the aid report required that officially documents financial need, a completed FAFSA is required.
