Goals and Competencies of the Bachelor of Science in Cytology Program

Goals

The goal defining minimum expectations for this program are to prepare competent entry-level cytologists in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills) and affective (behavior) learning domains.

Further, this program will provide quality instruction and professional education in the field of cytopathology so graduates will be qualified cytologists.

Competencies

Graduates of the Bachelor of Science in Cytology Program will:

  • Be qualified as competent entry-level cytologists
  • Complete a clinical internship portion of the curriculum with a minimum accuracy level
  • Demonstrate skills associated with the lifelong learning of cytopathology
