The UAMS Arkansas Delta Health Careers Opportunity Program (HCOP) Academy is a federally funded program designed to ensure that students from all backgrounds have the access, education and training essential for pursuing careers as health professionals. This initiative equips students with essential skills to help them compete for admission to health or allied health professions schools, enroll in these schools, and eventually graduate from them.
Collaboration between the UAMS Academic Pathways and Workplace Partnerships and the College of Health Profession led to an exciting event earlier this month in support of HCOP scholars participating in the six-week program.
The event titled, Hands-On Healthcare: Radiology & Beyond, began with a welcome and introduction followed by both Medical Laboratory Sciences and Radiologic Imaging Sciences leading insightful sessions. In the afternoon, HCOP scholars had a fantastic time rotating through the Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Physician Assistant, and Respiratory Care programs.
The event also included a lunch and student panel where current UAMS students shared invaluable experiences, providing a glimpse into the life-changing opportunities in the health field.
