UAMS Dental Hygiene Student Professional Presentation – 2 CEUs
Cost: no charge
UAMS senior dental hygiene students will present educational presentations on a variety of dental topics.
The UAMS Dental Hygiene School Professional Presentations will take place in person on campus on April 24, 2025, from 6 to 8 p.m. in Room 126 of the I. Dodd Wilson Building. This event is open to the public.
Local Anesthesia for Dental Hygienists – 32 CEUs
Cost: $1200.00
This comprehensive course covers the basic concepts of local anesthesia including anatomy, pharmacology, medical history review, and emergency management. The laboratory emphasizes the practice of safe techniques for effective administration. This course complies with the Rules and Regulations of the Arkansas State Board of Dental Examiners for the application for a dental hygiene local anesthesia permit. Registration starts April 1, 2025. On-line modules will open May 1, 2025. You must complete modules by June 5.
Date: June 5 to 6 and June 12 to 13. You must attend all four days (face-to-face).
Time: 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Place: UAMS Campus & UAMS Dental Hygiene Clinic (Freeway Medical Tower, Suite #501)
Required Textbook: Local Anesthesia for the Dental Hygienist, by Logothetis 3rd ed. Elsevier, 2022, ISBN, #978-0-323-71856-1. The textbook should be purchased prior to the course at any textbook seller (Amazon, etc.).

Online Course Offerings:
Administration & Monitoring of Nitrous Oxide for Dental Assistants and Hygienists – 6 CEUs
Cost: $150.00
This course will address the utilization of nitrous oxide/oxygen therapy for psychosedation as well as provide a review of the respiratory and cardiovascular systems and preoperative and postoperative medications. This course complies with the Rules and Regulations of the Arkansas State Board of Dental Examiners for the administration & monitoring of nitrous oxide. The course is entirely online and accessible at all times. You are limited to two attempts to pass this exam with an 80% and earn a completion certificate. We are unable to reset or “erase” any of your attempts to allow for a third try. Please take the exam only after thoroughly reviewing the content and completing the practice questions and practice exam.
Note: The course will open on January 2, 2025, for the new year. Enrollment for this year’s course closes on December 31, 2025. To receive a course certificate, you must complete the course and pass the exam by December 31, 2025.
