Accrediting and Credentialing Organizations

Accrediting and credentialing organizations are in place to set standards for quality respiratory care education as well as specific criteria for obtaining licensure in order to protect the public.

  • The Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care

    The CoARC is the professional accreditation organization for Respiratory Care programs.

  • National Board for Respiratory Care

    The NBRC is the testing agency which confers national credentials for the profession.

Professional Organizations

Professional organizations exist to advance the field of respiratory care by providing advocacy, professional development, and networking opportunities to respiratory therapists.

  • American Association for Respiratory Care

    The AARC promotes the profession, provides collaboration, scholarly resources and advocacy

  • American College of Respiratory Therapy Education

    The ACRTE supports bachelor and graduate degree education programs and students.

  • Arkansas Society for Respiratory Care

    The ASRC is the state affiliate of AARC that supports respiratory therapists in Arkansas
