A Message From the Department Chair

Welcome to the Department of Genetic Counseling at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. The Master of Science in Genetic Counseling Program attracts nationally-competitive students seeking a friendly, nurturing environment and an affordable education.

Medical genetics has a strong presence at UAMS and in Arkansas with six medical geneticists and fourteen genetic counselors located in central and Northwest Arkansas. Patients are seen every day in a medical genetics clinic. Our program features training in telemedicine clinics, numerous pediatric and adult interdisciplinary clinics, and in adult genetics, ophthalmic-genetics and adult Down syndrome clinics, of which there are few in the United States.

Genetic counseling is an exciting, challenging and rewarding career. We welcome you to peruse our website and contact us for an in-person visit at UAMS. We appreciate your interest in our program.

Warmest Regards,

Noelle R. Danylchuk, M.S., L.C.G.C.
Program Director and Chair of the Department of Genetic Counseling
