When can I come for a tour of the UAMS campus?
A general tour of the main UAMS campus in Little Rock can be arranged with the College of Health Professions student recruiter, who can be reached at 501-526-6594. The Master of Science in Dietetics Program hosts an on-campus information session each November. Registration is required.
Should I send a college transcript for all college coursework applying to the Master of Science in Dietetics Program?
Submission of official transcripts from all previously attended colleges and universities is required when applying to the Master of Science in Dietetics Program. Transcripts should be provided in the DICAS application.
Attending the Program
If I am accepted into the Master of Science in Dietetics Program, do I have to find my own preceptors?
Students in the Master of Science in Dietetics Program do not have to find their own preceptors. The program director schedules all supervised practice rotations for admitted students.
How long is the Master of Science in Dietetics Program?
The Master of Science in Dietetics Program is 15 months, starting at the end of May and going through the beginning of August the following year, which encompasses summer one, fall, spring, and summer two.
What hours will I attend class while enrolled in the Master of Science in Dietetics Program?
Summer courses in the Master of Science in Dietetics Program are a hybrid mix of face-to-face and virtual coursework. Fall and spring sessions consist of supervised practice rotations and didactic coursework. Mondays are hybrid class sessions and Tuesdays through Fridays are reserved for supervised practice rotations in the administrative, clinical, and community settings.
Can I work while enrolled in the Master of Science in Dietetics Program?
Previous graduates of the Master of Science in Dietetics Program have reported that it is feasible to work during the summer sessions. It is advisable to work only a limited number of hours during the fall and spring semesters while enrolled in the practicum courses.
