Goals and Competencies of the Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Imaging Science Program

The following program goals reflect the mission of UAMS and the UAMS College of Health Professions. Reflected in the curriculum, the program competencies support the attainment of the program goals.

Students will demonstrate clinical competence, in routine and non-routine patients, producing exceptional diagnostic images and enhancing the quality of healthcare to the community.

  • Students are able to accurately perform routine radiographic examinations.
  • Students are able to adjust positioning and select technical factors for non-routine procedures.

Students will demonstrate problem-solving and critical thinking skills in the didactic and clinical components of the program.

  • Students will demonstrate critical thinking skills when imaging patients in a trauma situation.
  • Students will demonstrate general effective critical thinking skills in the didactic setting.
  • Students can effectively evaluate and adjust technical factors for best practices in digital imaging.

Students will demonstrate professional behavior and be exposed to the importance of continued professional development.
