Licensure and Certification

Licensure

All radiographers practicing in a state requiring licensure must be licensed. Arkansas does require licensure. Upon completion of the bachelor’s degree program, the student must apply for an Arkansas license in order to practice. The license is obtained via the Arkansas Radiation Control Board, which is part of the Arkansas Department of Health.

Certification

Candidates who pass the national certification examination given by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists become Registered Radiographers [R.T.(R)(ARRT)]. Successful completion of the program does not itself ensure registration. Each student is responsible for familiarizing themself with the applicable registration requirements.
