Terry J. DuBose Endowed Scholarship
Eligible: Continuing Diagnostic Medical Sonography Students Only
Background and Purpose
This scholarship was established in 2010 in honor of Mr. Terry J. DuBose, a retired faculty member and Associate Professor Emeritus, and his long-time service to the College of Health Professions. Mr. DuBose developed the first educational program in Arkansas for Diagnostic Medical Sonography in 1996. He was the founding director of the Division of Diagnostic Medical Sonography in the Department of Imaging and Radiation Sciences until his retirement in 2010. Mr. DuBose is recognized nationally and internationally for his contributions to the field of sonography, especially on obstetrical sonography. The scholarship is awarded annually to one outstanding student in the Division of Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
Award Amount and Timing
Subject to the availability of funds, the total annual award is $1,000 to the selected student. Scholarship award is as follows: $500 per semester, fall and spring semester enrollment.
- Applicant must be a senior sonography student in good standing in the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program in the College of Health Professions.
- A minimum grade point average (GPA) of greater than 3.0 as calculated for all professional courses completed since the time of admission into the DMS program.
- Documented Financial Need – All students applying for scholarships must apply for financial aid. Students are not required to accept awarded loans, but in order to generate the aid report required that officially documents financial need, a completed FAFSA is required. - Three references are required, with at least one being a faculty member from the Division of Diagnostic Medical Sonography. Particular interest from references is input concerning the applicant’s character and leadership potential.
