Kathleen M. Mugan Endowed Scholarship
Eligible: Currently Enrolled Medical Laboratory Sciences Students Only
Background and Purpose
This scholarship was established in 2007 in honor of Mrs. Kathleen M. Mugan, former director of the medical laboratory sciences program, at her retirement. Mrs. Mugan was greatly respected and admired by her students and colleagues alike. The scholarship was established at her retirement by her students and colleagues, with generous support from Mrs. Mugan’s husband, Mr. Douglas Murray.
Award Amount and Timing
Subject to the availability of funds, the total annual award is $1,000 to the selected student. Scholarship award is as follows: $500 per semester, fall and spring semester enrollment.
Eligibility Criteria
- The applicant must be an officially enrolled student (full-time or part-time) who has completed at least one semester in the Medical Laboratory Sciences (MLS) Program in the Department of Laboratory Sciences.
- A minimum of a 2.5 grade point average (GPA) in the Medical Laboratory Sciences Program is required.
- Documented Financial Need – All students applying for scholarships must apply for financial aid. Students are not required to accept awarded loans, but in order to generate the aid report required that officially documents financial need, a completed FAFSA is required. References
- Two references are required – one from a UAMS Faculty members or Laboratory Supervisor who is familiar with their work, and one personal reference who is not associated with the MLS program. Relatives cannot not be used as references.
