Paula Peacock Endowed Scholarship
Eligible: Currently Enrolled Medical Laboratory Sciences Students Only
Background and Purpose
In 1998, this scholarship was established by Mrs. Paula Peacock’s family and friends to recognize her 40 years of service to the college, her students, the medical laboratory sciences profession, and the UAMS community. The former manager of the UAMS Clinical Laboratory, Mrs. Peacock was a role model and friend to many until she passed away in 2012. The scholarship is awarded annually to an upper-level student who displays academic excellence and laboratory skills.
Award Amount and Timing
Subject to the availability of funds, the total annual award is $1,000 to the selected student(s). Scholarship award is as follows: $500 per semester, fall and spring semester enrollment.
Eligibility Criteria
- The applicant must be an officially enrolled student who has completed at least 16 semester hours in the Medical Laboratory Sciences Program in the Department of Laboratory Sciences. A student who receives this award in ineligible to apply subsequently.
- A minimum of a 2.5 program grade point average (GPA).
- Documented Financial Need – All students applying for scholarships must apply for financial aid. Students are not required to accept awarded loans, but in order to generate the aid report required that officially documents financial need, a completed FAFSA is required. References
- Two references are required – one from a UAMS Faculty members or Laboratory Supervisor who is familiar with their work, and one personal reference who is not associated with the MLS program. Relatives cannot not be used as references.
