Meet Jamiri Brown from the Master of Science in Genetic Counseling program. She is our student feature!
My name is Jamiri Brown and I am from Patterson, Louisiana. I came to UAMS to pursue my master’s of science degree in genetic counseling.
I have known since I was I was in middle school that I wanted to be in the medical field and provide care for people. My interests in genetics and cancer grew as I completed undergraduate research at LSU.
During my junior year of undergrad, I learned about genetic counseling after researching careers involving genetics. I completed a two-month internship with a cancer genetic counselor and instantly fell in love with the profession! Soon after that, I began pursuing my career to become a genetic counselor!
I am so excited to be completing my studies at UAMS with such incredible classmates, faculty, and staff.
