Meet Catherine Power from the Bachelor of Science in Diagnostic Medical Sonography program
My name is Catherine Power and I am from Hurst, Texas. I came to UAMS to pursue my bachelor’s of science in diagnostic medical sonography with a focus in echocardiography during my senior year.
I have known since I was eight years old that I wanted to be in the medical field and play a role in caring for people. I spent a lot of time doing research in different areas in medicine and attended a nursing camp at the end of my freshman year of high school.
During my sophomore year of high school, I found sonography and completely fell in love with it! I spent a week in an imaging clinic shadowing a Sonographer and could not get enough of it! Following that I began pursing my career as a diagnostic medical sonographer. I had no idea that almost four years later I would be at UAMS!
