Meet Jer-Rin Turner in the Audiology Program
I was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. I completed my undergraduate degree in Communication Sciences & Disorders at the University of Houston.
I was inspired to apply for the Audiology program at UAMS because of the clinical/research interests of the faculty, various clinical placement opportunities, and the course structure of the program. I valued the opportunity to receive instruction from professors with a diverse professional background.
Some of my favorite moments in clinic include receiving the warm smiles and words of appreciation from patients and their families, after helping them overcome challenges or supporting them through their management process.
The UAMS Audiology program has influenced my career plans by providing opportunities to experience an array of clinic placements, thus expanding my clinical interests and settings of consideration.
Outside of my studies I serve as:
- Member, CHP Student Advisory Board
- 3rd year representative for the UAMS Student Academy of Audiology (SAA)
- Member, National Black Association for Speech Language and Hearing (NBASLH)
- Member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated
