Meet Sydney Chastain in the Nuclear Medicine Imaging Sciences Program

Hello, my name is Sydney Chastain, B.S., CNMT

I am originally from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. I came to Little Rock 6 years ago on an athletic scholarship to play Basketball at University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR) where I played 4 years obtaining my Degree in Sociology and minor in Biology.

Currently I have been working at UAMS as Patient Care Technician for the last 2 years. I knew I wanted to do more, so I decided to apply for the PA program. After consideration, I was not sure it would be a good fit so a booster club member at UALR, who works at UAMS, reached out and introduced me to the option of Nuclear Medicine. I applied, was accepted and have loved every moment since.

Some of my favorite moments thus far in the Nuclear Medicine program has been connecting with technicians through our clinicals and getting to know the patients we treat, as patient care has always been something I enjoy.

The program has really opened my eyes to the areas in which I can make a difference. With Nuclear Medicine I get the best of many worlds within the healthcare system since we work with other departments to ensure our patients comfort. I am hoping to push my career with various certifications that will help me find the best fit for me to excel and be a key team player wherever I am employed.

Some of my extracurricular activities include hiking, boating, wake surfing, working out, and kick ball league.

I am a member of the Lambda Nu National Honor Society as well as the CHP Student Advisory Committee for the Nuclear Medicine Imaging Sciences program
