Artie C. Dutcher, Jr. Memorial Endowed Scholarship

Background and Purpose
This scholarship was established in 2024 by Artie C. Dutcher Sr., a Navy veteran and graduate of the UAMS College of Health Professions with the class of 1976. He worked at UAMS for over 40 years as a diagnostic radiation technologist. Now retired, Artie understands the importance of healthcare workers who pursue careers in imaging and radiology. Artie is establishing this scholarship to memorialize his late son, Artie Charles Dutcher Jr., and to encourage students of modest means who are sincerely committed to the field to pursue an education in radiology.
Award Amount and Timing
Subject to the availability of funds, the total annual award is $1,000 to the selected student. Scholarship award is as follows: $500 per semester, fall and spring semester enrollment.
Eligibility Criteria
This scholarship shall be awarded each year to a UAMS student who is:
- Enrolled in the UAMS College of Health Professions
- Demonstrates good academic standing as determined by the Scholarship Committee, designee of the Dean and/or Provost
- Demonstrates financial need as determined by the Scholarship Committee, designee of the Dean and/or Provost
- Preference shall be given to a student with interest in pursuing Radiologic Imaging Sciences, and/or a student who is also a Veteran as defined by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. However, if a student fitting these criteria cannot be identified, the scholarship will be awarded to another qualified student in the Radiologic Imaging Sciences program.
