Epley Physical Therapy Scholar Award Scholarship

Eligible: Continuing Physical Therapy Students Only

Background and Purpose

The Epley Physical Therapy Scholar Award was established by funds contributed by Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Epley, Jr to support physical therapy students at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. The Epley Physical Therapy Scholar Award is based on a student’s academic merit, financial need and a proven perseverance and dedication to excellence in the physical therapy program.

Award Amount and Timing

Subject to the availability of funds, the total annual award is $2,500 to the selected student(s). Scholarship award is as follows: $1,250 per semester, fall and spring semester enrollment.

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Applicants must be admitted as a full-time student in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program in the College of Health Professions and have successfully completed at least one semester in the program at the time of application.
  2. Applicant must have a minimum cumulative grade point average (cGPA) of 3.25 in the program at the time of award.
  3. Documented Financial Need – All students applying for scholarships must apply for financial aid.  Students are not required to accept awarded loans, but in order to generate the aid report required that officially documents financial need, a completed FAFSA is required.  Please see the Student Financial Services website for more information.
  4. In addition to the application, applicants must submit a 400 word personal statement explaining their proven perseverance and dedication to excellence while in the physical therapy program.

  1. Two references are required, one professional and one personal.  Relatives cannot be used as references.
