About Dr. Hakkak
Reza Hakkak, Ph.D., Professor and Chairman of the Department of Dietetics and Nutrition, Associate Dean of Research for the College of Health Professions and Professor of Pediatrics in the College of Medicine for 30 years. His research includes obesity and breast cancer prevention or promotion, obesity, diet and liver steatosis and gut microbiota, influence of diet and nutritional toxicology. Reza has published more than 70 research articles and presented more than 250 abstracts and presentations. For over 30 years, he has been successful in securing extramural research funding from federal, state, regional and local funding agencies as a Private Investigator and Co-Investigator, serves on several editorial boards for multiple journals. He has been advisor or committee member for more than 80 Master of Science in Clinical Nutrition and Ph.D. student research projects. Reza is an advocate for good health during interviews on local television, radio newspapers, and magazines. These interviews often focus on the impact of diet and obesity on health.

Joint Accreditation Statement
In support of improving patient care, University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
AMA Credit Designation Statement
The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences designates this live activity for a maximum of 1.0 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
ACPE Credit Designation Statement
These knowledge-based activities will provide pharmacists up to 1.0 contact hours or 0.1 CEU. CE credit information, based on verification of live attendance and completion of the program evaluation, will be provided to NABP within 60 days after the activity completion.
ANCC Credit Designation Statement
The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences designates this live activity for a maximum of 1.0 ANCC contact hours. Nursing contact hours will be awarded for successful completion of program components based upon documented attendance and completion of evaluation materials.
AAPA Credit Designation Statement
The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences has been authorized by the American Academy of PAs (AAPA) to award AAPA Category 1 CME credit for activities planned in accordance with AAPA CME Criteria. This activity is designated for 1.0 AAPA Category 1 CME credits. PAs should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation.
CDR Credit Designation Statement
This activity is designated for 1.0 CDR CPEUs. Completion of this RD/DTR profession specific or IPCE activity awards CPEUs (One IPCE credit = one CPEU). If the activity is dietetics- related but not targeted to RDs or DTRs, CPEUs may be claimed which are commensurate with participation in contact hours. RDs and DTRs are to select activity type 102 in their Activity Log. Sphere and Competency selection is at the learner’s discretion.
Athletic Trainers
University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (BOC AP#: 0000298) is approved by the Board of Certification, Inc. to provide continuing education to Athletic Trainers (ATs). This program is eligible for a maximum of 1.0 Category A hours/CEUs. ATs should claim only those hours actually spent in the educational program.
